A Salad. How... Ordinary.

Might as well begin with a little recipe of my own. I call it, dum dum dum! The salad.

Wow. Sounds boring? Not really. Its a load of fun to toss together, it feeds a bunch of people depending on how hungry they are, and how huge your lettuce is. Annnd... its simple to make!

Do remember that my motto is "If it works, it works!" (Yes, its new). Food recipes are for you to understand the basic mechanics of cooking. You can ALWAYS alter the recipe to suit your own taste. IF you know how your changes affects the end product.

Give it a go!

Heres what you need to feed 4-6 people (4 if salad is going to be all you eat. 6 if its a side dish):

1 Huge tossing bowl
1 Large Onion
1/2 Head of USA lettuce
4 Small eggs
4 Small USA Red potatoes (Red skinned potatos are good for salads.
Dont use brown ones.)
4 Heaping tablespoons of Mayonaise
1 Medium sized carrot.
Some Crushed black peppercorns.
Many Shakings of Bacon Bits. Mc Comick or Betty works. Can be omitted if you
dont like em.

See? I had some guess-timation in some ingredients. Add to taste, as I always say.

1) Boil the potatoes, start with a pot of cool water with a couple of pinches of salt. Boil till a knife inserted meets almost no resistance. Drain the water, and rest the potatoes. Chop them in quarters when they are cooler (about 30mins)

2) Boil the eggs from cool water, lid closed. When the water is to a boil, turn off the flame and let the eggs steep in the hot water to cook. After about 15mins, drain the water, and peel the eggs. Chop into slides, then halve those if you want smaller bits.

2) Wash the lettuce, chop them into fine bits. Horizontally first, then vertically. Like making tiny lettuce cubes. Yes, thats it! Chuck the bits into the huge tossing bowl. No, you dont toss the bowl, you toss the salad.

3) Wash and shred the carrots on top the the lettuce in the huge tossing bowl. Its now Orange!

4) Peel down and chop up the onion. Large bits if you like em crunchy. Small bits to hide them from people who "think" they cant stand onion. Watch them chomp down happily on the salad. Most of them wont notice the onion, its true!

5) Add in the mayonaise and black peppercorns. Its time to shake it up! Make sure everything done thus far has gone into the huge tossing bowl! Use 2 spoons (forks would poke holes into your food), and gently lift the mix of veggies from the bottom up. Gently would do, just repeat a few times to ensure its well mixed.

If all goes well, you now have this :

Toss on the bacon bits, then GOGOGO! :D

Comments on the recipe are welcome, add in your own input if you want. Food improvements are good improvements :D

-=Rence has returned=-

How long has it been since my last post?

1 year?

2?

3?

Somewhere around 2 I reckon. Well, since I decided to breathe a little back into this blog, here I am. Hope I dont bore the crap out of anyone reading, but this should be a taste of whats going to appear here.

Food and drink.

Thats what I am going to focus on. Probably a small surprise for those who know me. After all, who doesnt like food? Or drink.

Will be posting soon. Scheduled for Fosters: "An English Rose Cafe" this Saturday. It has never disappointed me, so it should prove a joy to write about.

Cheers!
